The trail leading to the Grey Lake Viewpoint is part of the famous W Circuit within Torres del Paine National Park.
This excursion offers the opportunity to appreciate its environment full of flora and fauna, with marvelous panoramic views of Cerro Paine Grande and the Olguín Cordón, until reaching the viewpoint that provides astonishing and unforgettable views of the imposing Glaciar Grey surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
We depart in our vehicle from your accommodation in Puerto Natales via Route 9, heading towards Torres del Paine National Park.
After a 1.5-hour journey, we will arrive at the Laguna Amarga Entrance, where we will register at the CONAF facilities. We will then head towards the Pudeto sector, where at 8:30 AM, we will board the catamaran for a 25-minute ride across Lake Pehoé to the Paine Grande Refuge sector.
After the induction talk from our guide, we will prepare to begin our 22 km round-trip trek, lasting approximately 8 hours, along an old trail used by ranchers and cowboys. This medium-difficulty trail starts at the Cañadón de los Vientos and follows the slopes of Cerro Paine Grande.
After 1.5 hours of gradual ascent, we will reach an altitude of 275 meters above sea level, where we can observe from afar the majestic head of the Grey Glacier in all its grandeur, with the lake of the same name at its feet. An unforgettable view.
We continue through an ancient Lenga forest (Nothofagus pumilio), appreciating the flora and fauna that thrive along the edges of the lagoons and numerous small streams beside the trail, until we reach the Grey Lake Viewpoint, which offers a spectacular view of the Grey Glacier from its eastern head. In this privileged spot, we will enjoy our box lunch, rest, and take in the beauty of nature in all its splendor.
We will return via the same trail to the Paine Grande Refuge to board the catamaran between 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM for the trip back to the Pudeto sector, where our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to Puerto Natales.
